Choose the room, not just the property
A ryokan can offer tatami and futons, Western beds, or a mixture of both. Meals are often a central part of the experience, but the room and plan you book decide what is included.
Start with your must-haves: a private bath, two separate beds, or dinner at the property. Open a room’s details to check them together. A bath shown elsewhere in the hotel does not establish that your room has one.
Compare rooms with two separate bedsMake bathing feel comfortable
Decide whether you want a bath in your room, a separate bath reserved for your party, or shared facilities. “Open-air” describes the setting; it does not tell you who shares the bath or whether the water is onsen.
Our private-bath guide walks through these differences and the details to check on the booking page.
Choose your bathing experienceGive dinner a place in your plans
If dining at the ryokan is part of the trip you imagine, compare dinner-and-breakfast plans. Check the meal venue, arrival deadline and menu arrangements for that plan before you pay. Room-only and breakfast-only plans are different stays, even in the same room.
Do not assume a dietary request is included because a request box is available. Read the provider’s response and the property’s arrangements before treating it as agreed.

Save the stays you like, then compare their rooms, meals and routes. The final check is the exact room name, dates, everyone in your party, total price, cancellation terms and arrival arrangements on the booking website.
Trindex helps you compare recorded information. Prices, availability, payment and confirmation are handled by the booking provider. A room appearing in our search is not a promise that it is available on your dates.
