Start with your arrival point

The Hakone Tozan train connects Hakone-Yumoto and Gora. From Gora, the cable car leads to Sounzan; the ropeway connects Sounzan and Togendai. Buses serve other parts of Hakone. Use the operator’s route search for your actual journey.

On our map, choose a station or transport hub to filter recorded routes from that point. This is more useful than drawing a circle around a pin: a nearby stay may still involve a hill, road crossing or different entrance.

Check the last stretch with luggage

Use the walking-time filter for published or evidenced routes. Open a stay’s Getting there section for route notes, the source and its review date. A ten-minute walk is not a step-free or level-ground guarantee.

If a route has no walking time recorded, it will not appear in a walking-time result. That means the information is missing, not that walking is impossible. Try the full map or another arrival option.

Make the pickup part of the reservation

A shuttle route is a useful option, but check the pickup point, operating times and whether advance booking is required. If you choose a taxi, keep the property’s Japanese address handy and check your arrival arrangements.

Hakone-Yumoto has a luggage delivery service to accommodation in the area. Check the operator’s current participating properties, acceptance times and conditions before relying on it.

Leave room for the journey

Before setting off, check live service information and the timetable for the last connection you need. Plan arrival around your stay’s check-in and dinner arrangements. If a connection changes, revisit the route rather than assuming another service will be available.
