Founded in 1883, this Kowakudani ryokan has a main building registered as a tangible cultural property and detached accommodation. It overlooks Horaien and the Hakone mountains and uses its own hot-spring source.

Onsen & bathing
The ryokan’s own spring feeds indoor and outdoor communal baths and one private semi-open-air bath. The private bath is free and unreserved: use it when vacant, lock it from inside and keep a session to about 60 minutes. Overnight guests can also visit Mori-no-yu free of charge. Children still in nappies cannot enter Mori-no-yu’s bath tubs.

Dinner centres on Mikawaya hot pot and seasonal ingredients. Breakfast is a set meal featuring seafood and mountain produce from Sagami Bay and the Hakone area.

Before you book
Standard check-in is 15:00 and check-out 10:00. The last dinner sitting is 19:30, with arrival requested at least 30 minutes earlier. The grounds are non-smoking without a smoking room. Meals are served in the main-building restaurant, not in guest rooms. Children can stay; pets are not accepted.
